GMWEA offers a range of trainings to improve the knowledge and skills of water quality professionals and to provide credits toward certification.  Shorter trainings are presented at our spring and fall conferences; multi-class trainings are also offered on an annual calendar created by our Continuing Education Committee.

Fall 2019 BASIC SAC Wastewater Operations Course

Based on Volumes 1 and 2 of the nationally-recognized standard, Wastewater Sacramento books, this 8-day course (one day per week) prepares attendees to take the Grades 1 and 2 Domestic Wastewater certification exams. Each attendee will learn the basic concepts of wastewater treatment from collection system to final disposal of effluent and solids.  Taught at the Montpelier Wastewater Treatment Facility by a team of expert trainers, the course includes both classroom training and field trips!  Presented by GMWEA in affiliation with Vermont Rural Water Association.

Trainings & Continuing Education

The Fall Trade Show and Conference (October 29 & 30, 2019, at the DoubleTree Conference Center, Burlington) offers six training sessions, and our Spring Conference & Member Meeting (May 21, 2020, at the Killington Grand Hotel) features nine. Training topics are determined by member demand and presentations are coordinated by GMWEA's Continuing Education Committee.  See the 2018 Spring Meeting page or Fall Tradeshow pages for examples of training topics.


Our top-rated trainings are presented by officials from the Vt. Department of Environmental Conservation, Vt. OSHA, Vt. Rural Water Association, N.H. Dept. of Environmental Conservation, water/wastewater industry evaluators and service providers, and other experts in the field.
